Football Recap: Capital Prep/Achievement First Takes a Loss

Capital Prep/Achievement First extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were outmatched by the Ellington Knights and fell 53-6. The Trailblazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for Ellington, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.

Ellington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Ladr, who threw for 191 yards and four TDs. Brett Powell helped Ladr out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

Coming up, Capital Prep/Achievement First will welcome CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ellington, they will head out to square off against Weaver at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Ladr and Kadain Claflin-Coy.
