            Softball Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Nipomo Titans        
        
		
        
        
            After both having extra time off, the Orcutt Academy Spartans and the Nipomo Titans will shake off the rust and duke it out  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Orcutt Academy took a nine-run  loss the last time they faced off against Paso Robles, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Bearcats  3-2 last Thursday.
Meanwhile, Nipomo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Tigers  9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Titans have posted  since May 17, 2024.
 Alyssa Van Muysen and  Roxanne McLean did most of the damage at the plate:  Van Muysen  went 3-for-5 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  RBI, while  McLean  went 2-for-4 with four  RBI and two  runs. Those  four  RBI gave  McLean a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sophie Quaresma, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run.
 Nipomo was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .394 or higher in three consecutive  contests.
 Orcutt Academy's record is now 8-9-1. As for Nipomo, their record now sits at 10-6.
 Orcutt Academy beat Nipomo 8-4  in their previous meeting  on April 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
