Baseball Game Preview: Brito Panthers vs. Southwest Eagles

The Brito Panthers will head out to square off against the Southwest Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Brito will be strutting in after a win while Southwest will be coming in after a loss.

Brito will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Miami Christian, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Brito came out on top against Miami Christian by a score of 5-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Noah Nevarez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Brito's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 4-2 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Raivon Pinder, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Samuel Castro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Southwest fell victim to Miami Springs and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Hawks. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Kaleb Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Brito's record is now 7-8. As for Southwest, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
