Baseball Recap: Eaton Takes Down Basalt in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Eaton walked away with it. They never let the Basalt Longhorns get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Saturday. Considering the Reds have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Gunnar Garrison's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 18 Ks.

On the hitting side, Eaton let Malaki Dalpra and Liam Whalen run wild. Dalpra went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Whalen went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Greyson Clingan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Eaton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Basalt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Eaton nor Basalt have any future games scheduled.
