Baseball Game Preview: Sullivan Redskins vs. Mattoon Greenwave

Sullivan is 0-4 against Mattoon since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Redskins will venture away from home to face off against the Greenwave at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sullivan's offense. They lost 8-0 to Clinton on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Redskins have suffered since May 3, 2024.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Mattoon and Richland County, and Richland County kept the tradition alive. The Greenwave fell 8-4 to the Tigers on Monday.

Mathew Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Sullivan's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mattoon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Sullivan suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Mattoon in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
