Football Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy Takes a Loss

Gray Collegiate Academy lost against Dutch Fork back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The War Eagles took a blow against the Silver Foxes, falling 42-14. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Silver Foxes are ranked first).

Despite the loss, Gray Collegiate Academy still got an impressive performance from Corey Gleaton, who picked up 137 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gleaton didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended one pass. Tyler Waller was another key player, having thrown for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

Dutch Fork got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxon Knotts out in front who rushed for 60 yards and one TD, and also threw for 175 yards on 16 of 26 attempts. Those 60 rushing yards gave Knotts a new career-high. Braydon Johnson was Knotts' top target, picking up 17 receiving yards.

Gray Collegiate Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Dutch Fork, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gray Collegiate Academy will head out to take on Midland Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the War Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Dutch Fork, they will head out on the road to challenge Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Silver Foxes will need to watch out since the Landsharks have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
