Basketball Recap: Lincolnton Takes a Loss

Lincolnton lost against East Burke back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lincolnton Wolves had to suffer through a 63-19 loss at the hands of the East Burke Cavaliers. The match marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Loss or not, Lincolnton got some senior leadership from Sarah Rhyne and Justice Smith. Rhyne posted five points, while Smith earned five points.

Kara Brinkley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards for East Burke. The game was Brinkley's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Stilwell, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 11 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Lincolnton dropped their record down to 8-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for East Burke, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Lincolnton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-42 loss against Maiden on the 17th. As for East Burke, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-15 victory against West Lincoln on the 17th.
