Baseball Recap: Mott Comes Up Short

Mott was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shrine Catholic Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Monday.

Oscar Hubbell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Karter Starr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Mott's defeat dropped their record down to 3-32. As for Shrine Catholic, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mott will head out to challenge Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Corsairs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shrine Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
