Baseball Game Preview: Faith Christian Lions vs. Weaver Bearcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Faith Christian Lions face off against Weaver Bearcats at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Faith Christian's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Weaver has been banged up by 15 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

While Faith Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Winterboro on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Jayden Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Smith is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Rogers, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Toby Ricard was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Weaver was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Ashville.

Carson Campbell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Faith Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Weaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
