Recap: Pleasant Grove Spartans vs. Carver Birmingham Rams
On Thursday, The Pleasant Grove Spartans got themselves on the board against the Carver Birmingham Rams, but the Carver Birmingham Rams never followed suit. They breezed by the Rams on the road to the tune of 47-0. The result was nothing new for Pleasant Grove, who have now won five games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Pleasant Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Collin Moore led the charge by rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Moore's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Jordan Smith also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Pleasant Grove's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for Carver Birmingham, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Pleasant Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Jasper at 10:00 p.m. on October 27th. Jasper will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 29th). As for Carver Birmingham, they will head out on the road to face off against Ramsay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
