Preview: Copenhagen Golden Knights vs. Lyme Central Indians
The Copenhagen Golden Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lyme Central Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Copenhagen suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 57-34 defeat at the hands of Sackets Harbor Central. Copenhagen has not had much luck with Sackets Harbor Central recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Samuel Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Sullivan, who scored nine points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Lyme Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their seventh straight loss. Their tough 56-36 loss to Jordan-Elbridge might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Lyme Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 769th, while Jordan-Elbridge is ranked 352nd).
Copenhagen's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Lyme Central, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Copenhagen beat Lyme Central 48-37 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does Copenhagen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lyme Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
