Softball Recap: High Point Central Bison vs. Atkins Camels

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, High Point Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Atkins Camels 16-15. This was a revenge contest for High Point Central, as the team was forced to settle for a 24-8 defeat when these two played last Friday.

High Point Central got a massive performance out of Idalis Underhill, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cameron McGowens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

On Atkins' side, Ja'Nique Linder and Ava Fleming did some serious damage despite the final result: Linder scored four runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4, while Fleming scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Linder is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandra Scruggs, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

The win got High Point Central back to even at 9-9. As for Atkins, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

High Point Central will head out on the road to square off against Rockingham County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockingham County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something High Point Central surely won't give up without a fight. Atkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
