Basketball Game Preview: Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers vs. South Park Burros

Cripple Creek-Victor hasn't had much luck against South Park recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers will look to defend their home court against the South Park Burros at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Back in December of 2024, Cripple Creek-Victor ended up a good deal behind KIPP Denver Collegiate and lost 46-31. The Pioneers were down 38-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The losing side was boosted by Trevor Mirande, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Lohmeier, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Cripple Creek-Victor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, South Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The contest between them and Clear Creek didn't end well, with South Park falling 50-33.

Cripple Creek-Victor now has a losing record at 2-3. As for South Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
