Volleyball Recap: Encina Has No Trouble Against Mesa Verde

Encina barely beat Mesa Verde the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mavericks on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mavericks, too.

Encina walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-15, 26-24, 25-22.

Sarah Cowley paced Encina's offense, picking up eight kills. Cowley got some help from Nyla Pomtong and her 19 assists. Janelly Valladares controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Encina has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Encina will venture away from home to challenge Western Sierra Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mesa Verde, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Juan at 6:00 p.m. on September 6.
