Softball Game Preview: Wylie Prep Academy Patriots vs. Dallas Christian Chargers

The Wylie Prep Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Dallas Christian Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wylie Prep Academy can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They came up short against First Baptist, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, Dallas Christian waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Chloe Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zailey Freeman and Raegan Haar did most of the damage at the plate: Freeman scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Haar went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Sammi Boothe, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
