Baseball Game Preview: Wilbur Cross Governors vs. Northwest Catholic Lions

The Wilbur Cross Governors will square off against the Northwest Catholic Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilbur Cross is looking for their season's first victory.

Things were looking good for Wilbur Cross after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-2 to Notre Dame, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Northwest Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Lewis Mills on Monday, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Will Chyra tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Northwest Catholic is 3-1 when Chyra allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Andrew Mikan was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Northwest Catholic: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

Northwest Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Wilbur Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.
