Softball Recap: Haven Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Haven faced Trinity Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wildcats skirted past the Knights 4-3. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Avery Brawner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Haven saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mayzie Warden, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Karlee Cooprider was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Haven pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Knights beat Haven by a score of 11-5 later that day.
