Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Pioneers vs. Chapmanville Regional Tigers

Wayne hasn't had much luck against Chapmanville Regional recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Wayne will face off against Chapmanville Regional at 3:30 p.m. Wayne will be strutting in after a victory while Chapmanville Regional will be coming in after a defeat.

Wayne's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Tug Valley. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Brady Dyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

Dyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Fisher Fry, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Lucas Queen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Chapmanville Regional came up short against Charleston Catholic on Thursday and fell 7-3. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Chapmanville Regional's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wayne, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Chapmanville Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
