Baseball Game Preview: Grant Lancers vs. Van Nuys Wolves

For the second straight game, Grant will face off against Van Nuys. The Lancers will challenge the Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Grant's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Van Nuys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Grant is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Van Nuys on Wednesday. They lost 7-1 to the Wolves. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lancers have suffered since May 14, 2024.

For Van Nuys' part, Joel Enciso made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Enciso was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Nate Renard was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Conner Alagozyan, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Grant's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Van Nuys, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grant has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Van Nuys struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts.
