Baseball Preview: East Central Trojans vs. Jennings County Panthers

The East Central Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Jennings County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Central will be strutting in after a win while Jennings County will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, East Central narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Franklin County 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for East Central.

Joel Richter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned run off three hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Richter was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Ryan Ott looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.

Back at the plate, Brayden Rouse was incredible, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Moses Wheat, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Jennings County lost a close one when they played on Saturday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 10-0 loss at the hands of Evansville North.

East Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jennings County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

East Central was able to grind out a solid win over Jennings County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
