Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Eden vs. Arroyo

The Mt. Eden Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Arroyo Dons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Eden's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Mt. Eden is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Castro Valley on Tuesday. The Monarchs fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Arroyo came up short against Berkeley on Tuesday, falling 5-2. Arroyo haven't had much luck with Berkeley recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jonathan Rodriguez-Palafox wasn't going to let Berkeley walk away unscathed as he scored both of Arroyo's goals, bringing his season total up to 16 goals.

Mt. Eden's record now sits at 9-2-7. As for Arroyo, their record is now 8-6-4.

Mt. Eden skirted past Arroyo 2-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
