Volleyball Recap: Chestatee Comes Up Short

Chestatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fannin County Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Fannin County scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17.

Kylie Rudeseal paced Chestatee's offense, picking up seven kills. Rudeseal got some help from Natalie Sykes and her ten assists. Sykes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Among those leading the charge was Amberly Patterson, who had 14 digs and two aces. What's more, she posted two assists, the most she's had over her last five contests.

Chestatee's defeat dropped their record down to 8-22. As for Fannin County, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 17-16.

Chestatee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Lumpkin County on the 30th. As for Fannin County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Hiwassee Dam on the 29th.
