Soccer Game Preview: Chugiak vs. West Anchorage

The Chugiak Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the West Anchorage Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Chugiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Eagle River, who was ranked 18th at the time (Chugiak was ranked fifth). The Mustangs never let Wolves get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Chugiak yet this season.

Their offense was hitting Eagle River from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Arrianna Lubeck led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage got the win against Bartlett on Wednesday by a conclusive 5-0.

West Anchorage's victory bumped their record up to 3-5-2. As for Chugiak, their win bumped their record up to 6-2-1.

Chugiak came out on top in a nail-biter against West Anchorage in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
