Recap: The Village School of Naples Knights vs. Donahue Catholic Shamrocks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Island Coast, The Village School of Naples Knights were happy to have found some success on Monday. They slipped by Donahue Catholic 60-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Donahue Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Erling Berg, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Berg is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Isaac Loboda was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
The Village School of Naples' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. As for Donahue Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Village School of Naples won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Naples Classical at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Naples Classical has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Donahue Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Mason Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mason Classical Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
