Volleyball Recap: Eaglecrest Falls Short Against Ranked Mountain Vista

Eaglecrest faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Raptors lost 3-0 to the Golden Eagles. The Raptors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

While Eaglecrest ultimately came up short, they really made Mountain Vista work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-17, 25-23.

Jackson Shaw paced Eaglecrest's offense, picking up 15 kills. Shaw got some help from Dillan Ancheta and his 25 assists. Ashton Bond controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Mountain Vista to victory were Atreyu (Trey) Armstrong and Keyvon Motallebi. Armstrong had ten digs and two aces, while Motallebi hit 71.4% for five kills and four digs and two aces. That's the most kills Motallebi has posted over his last seven matchups.

This is the second loss in a row for Eaglecrest and nudges their season record down to 19-4. As for Mountain Vista, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Eaglecrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Bear Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
