Basketball Recap: Tommy Halgrim's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Myers over Palmetto Ridge

Fort Myers was the 70-49 winner over Palmetto Ridge when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Myers Green Wave fell 61-52 to the Palmetto Ridge Bears on Thursday. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Myers' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tommy Halgrim, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of James Michel, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points and five assists.

Palmetto Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeriah Muldrow, who went 5 for 11 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Juju Castillo was another key player, going 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Palmetto Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.

Fort Myers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-47 defeat against Cape Coral on the 24th. As for Palmetto Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-42 loss against Community School of Naples on the 25th.
