After a season-opening hiccup, Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) is on a major roll.

Ranked No. 20 nationally to start the season, the Cavaliers lost a 35-28 heartbreaker to Judson (Converse) in late August.

On Friday they rattled off their fifth straight victory, this one their most impressive with a 49-7 home victory over Austin rival Westlake.

It was one of the most lopsided victories in the history of the rivalry, highlighted by three touchdown runs by Maleek Barkley.

An interception by Mateo Lopez set up a short TD keeper by Charlie Brewer to open the scoring with 3:12 left in the first quarter. By halftime the score was 29-0 and Lake Travis was never threatened.

Brewer accounted for four TDs for the Cavs, who won their ninth straight in the series.

Lake Travis (5-1) was a bubble team last week in the Xcellent 25 national rankings. Don't be surprised if they move into the elite group this week.
