McDowell lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Meadville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Trojans never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Gabriella Deluca made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Alexandra Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Mickel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
McDowell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadville only posted an OBP of .000.
The win (which was McDowell's third in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Meadville, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
