Softball Recap: Cheney Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

14 must be Cheney's lucky number: they beat Council Grove with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Cardinals beat the Braves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The win was just business as usual for the Cardinals, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Macey Batt and Karstyn Inslee did most of the damage at the plate: Batt scored a run while going 2-for-5, while Inslee scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Karli Inslee was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Cheney pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.3 runs thus far. As for Council Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheney will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Douglass at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Council Grove, they will square off against Osage City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
