Volleyball Recap: Chapman Panthers vs. Broome Centurions
Chapman came tearing into Wednesday's contest with nine straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Broome Centurions 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.
Chapman never let Broome on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 28-26, 25-12.
Sarah Lancaster paced Chapman's offense, picking up 12 kills. Lancaster got some help from
Kimberli Mitchell and her 23 assists.
Alexa Steiert controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Despite the loss, Broome still got an impressive performance from Chelsea Fleming, who had nine digs and 16 assists. Fleming has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 15 times she's played.
Chapman's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for Broome, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
After both having extra time off, Chapman and Greer Middle College will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chapman is facing Greer Middle College at the right time seeing as Greer Middle College is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. Broome has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Union County on the 24th.
