Baseball Game Preview: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. Orono Riots

Foxcroft Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against Orono recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ponies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riots at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Wednesday, Foxcroft Academy made easy work of Dexter and carried off a 10-2 win. That looming 10-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Ponies yet this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orono). They blew past George Stevens Academy 14-4 on Wednesday. The Riots haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Calum Bryant was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Orono: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Bryant was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Orono got a massive performance out of Logan Williams, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Williams has hit this season. Noah Schaff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Foxcroft Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Orono, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Foxcroft Academy skirted past Orono 14-12 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Ponies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Riots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
