Baseball Game Preview: Firelands Falcons vs. Clearview Clippers

Firelands is a perfect 9-0 against Clearview since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falcons will host the Clippers at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Firelands came up short against Solon and fell 16-12.

Daniel Kothe and Aidan Cummings did some serious damage despite the final result: Kothe went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Cummings went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Cummings has become a key player for Firelands: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Aaron Bower was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Clearview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oberlin.

Clearview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jahmir Sims, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Clearview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Firelands, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Firelands' way against Clearview in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Firelands made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
