Cox Mill is 0-10 against Lake Norman since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cox Mill Chargers will square off against the Lake Norman Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.
Cox Mill is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Hickory Ridge on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cox Mill was dealt a 77-40 defeat at the hands of Hickory Ridge. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Ragin' Bulls are ranked 65th).

Lauren Farrell put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 18 games she's played.
Even though they lost, Cox Mill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Friday. They came out on top against the Ragin' Bulls by a score of 68-56.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Samantha Shehan and Ma-Kaela Gidney. Shehan had a solid game and posted 13 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Gidney was balling out in the loss, on her way to 22 points and five steals.
Lake Norman pushed their record up to 24-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.9 points over those games. As for Cox Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cox Mill has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Lake Norman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cox Mill was taken down by Lake Norman 93-27 when the teams last played on February 7th.
