Soccer Game Preview: Grant vs. Poly

Grant hasn't had much luck against Poly recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lancers will challenge the Parrots at 7:00 p.m.

Grant is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals back in December of 2025, they were much more limited against Arleta on Wednesday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, Poly sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Granada Hills Charter back in December of 2025. Given Poly's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Granada Hills Charter are ranked 572nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ernest Walker and Jose Saucedo scored both of Poly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Grant's loss dropped their record down to 1-4-2. As for Poly, their record now sits at 8-2-1.

Grant couldn't quite get it done against Poly in their previous matchup back in December of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
