They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brownstown Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 230 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Another reason for the win was Brownstown Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Issac Hutchinson and Ernest Harrison, who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Lapel hadn't done well against Indianapolis Lutheran recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Saints 38-7. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Saints are ranked 98th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brownstown Central better keep an eye on Devin Craig. He was instrumental in Lapel's win, throwing for 347 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per attempt. 129 of those passing yards were hauled in by Brayden Parsley, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Brownstown Central's record is now 13-0. As for Lapel, their record now sits at an identical 13-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Brownstown Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 390.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Lapel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 369.9 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
