Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy South Homestead Comes Up Short

Somerset Academy South Homestead managed to keep up with South Dade until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes came up short against the South Dade Buccaneers, falling 37-17. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Somerset Academy South Homestead still got an impressive performance from Kaliyah Mincey, who posted eight points.

South Dade's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lapatra Warren, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Warren has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jurnee Walters, who had five points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for South Dade, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.

Somerset Academy South Homestead is taking a road trip to face off against Mater Bay Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Dade, they will head out to challenge Ferguson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
