Softball Recap: Mesa Ridge Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mesa Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-14 win over the Canon City Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Kiana Steinhoff was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Nahlia(Taco) Zunk, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Mesa Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in six consecutive games.

Mesa Ridge's record now sits at 12-7-1. As for Canon City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Mesa Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
