Softball Recap: Yonkers Drops Season-High Score on Riverside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yonkers). They put the hurt on the Riverside Rams with a sharp 30-15 win on Monday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 9.3 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Leila Campbell, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was ShyAnn Wright, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and one RBI.

Yonkers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Yonkers' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Yonkers will face off against Barack Obama School for Social Justice at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverside, they will take on Gorton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
