Softball Game Preview: St. John-Vianney Lancers vs. Middletown North Lions

The St. John-Vianney Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Middletown North Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. John-Vianney 1.4, Middletown North 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

St. John-Vianney is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Colts Neck on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Middletown North sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Marlboro on Tuesday.

The win made it two in a row for St. John-Vianney and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Middletown North, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went St. John-Vianney's way against Middletown North when the teams last played back in May of 2019, as St. John-Vianney made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
