Basketball Game Preview: Broome Centurions vs. Mountain View Prep Stars

The Broome Centurions will venture away from home to square off against the Mountain View Prep Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Broome has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Broome is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Greer Middle College: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Broome blew Greer Middle College out of the water with a 58-21 final score. The Centurions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Broome's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kourtney Wofford led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Wofford has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Dakota Mitchell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards.

Broome smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mountain View Prep played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Woodruff 53-20. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 62nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-18. As for Broome, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
