West Holt has no trouble against O'Neill

The West Holt Huskies had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past O'Neill with points to spare, taking the game 49-33. West Holt pushed the score to 41-17 by the end of the third, a deficit O'Neill cut but never quite recovered from.

O'Neill's loss came despite strong showings from Olivia Young and Rylee Selby. Young scored 16 points along with three steals, while Selby scored five points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season.

Even though they lost, O'Neill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win got West Holt back to even at 9-9. As for O'Neill, their loss was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

West Holt will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Niobrara/Verdigre on February 6th. O'Neill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Creighton at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Creighton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
