Baseball Recap: Wendell Comes Up Short

Wendell and Challis pushed the score to 14-6 the last time they played Challis, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Trojans fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-6 defeat last Thursday.

Wendell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deegan Prince, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Julian Ponce also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Wendell's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Challis, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5-1.

Looking ahead, Wendell will square off against Declo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Challis, they will challenge Firth at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
