The United Longhorns will face off against the Lake Travis Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with United sitting on five straight wins and Lake Travis on 12.
United is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Los Fresnos by a score of 27-20. Those 27 points were actually the fewest the Longhorns have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

United got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colt Lozano out in front who picked up 126 receiving yards and one TD. Lozano's receiving production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 108 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Luna, who threw for 249 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lake Travis didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Brennan on Friday, but they still walked away with a 13-7 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bears are ranked 89th).
Lake Travis' win came from a few key players United will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke McBride, who threw for 159 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. What's more, he racked up 16 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Vann Hopping helped out on the ground, rushing for 139 yards.
One reason for the win was Lake Travis' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Carter Buck and Ben Duncum, who racked up four sacks between them. With that strong performance, Buck is now averaging an impressive 5.1 total tackles per game.
United's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Lake Travis, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. United has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 326.6 passing yards per game. Lake Travis, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 164.5 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
