Basketball Preview: Burley Bobcats vs. Skyline Grizzlies
After both having extra time off, the Burley Bobcats and the Skyline Grizzlies will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Burley and three for Skyline.
Two weeks ago, Burley might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Canyon Ridge an easy 64-43 victory.
Burley's loss came about despite a quality game from Jake Seely, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cove Thompson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points.
Even though they lost, Burley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Skyline played a tough match last Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Rigby and fell 63-33. The Grizzlies were down 53-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Skyline's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Burley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Burley came up short against Skyline in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, falling 44-37. Can Burley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
