Basketball Game Preview: Covina Colts vs. Charter Oak Chargers

The Covina Colts are taking a road trip to square off against the Charter Oak Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covina will be strutting in after a win while Charter Oak will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Covina was able to grind out a solid victory over Northview, taking the game 48-37.

Meanwhile, Charter Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 70-27 defeat at the hands of Rowland. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1146th, while the Raiders are ranked 511th).

Covina has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Charter Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Covina took their win against Charter Oak when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 53-31. Does Covina have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charter Oak turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
