Softball Game Preview: Basile Bearcats vs. Merryville Panthers

Basile is 0-5 against Merryville since March of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Basile Bearcats duke it out with Merryville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Merryville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Basile, who comes in off a win.

Basile made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oberlin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Basile was the clear victor by a 24-7 margin over Oberlin on Tuesday. The Bearcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Merryville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Grand Lake.

Merryville's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-11. As for Basile, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-6-1.

Basile suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Merryville in their previous meeting on March 11th. Can Basile avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
