Bowie came out on top against Austin on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Bears' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 13-0 shutout. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Bowie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Austin, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Bowie by a score of 20-8 on Saturday.
