Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pope John Paul II Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly five points.

Pope John Paul II got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaiden Campbell out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards. Campbell also grabbed four steals, which is notable because Pope John Paul II is 4-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grace Raimer, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Pope John Paul II, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-12.

As of now, neither Independence nor Pope John Paul II have any future games scheduled.
