Baseball Game Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Mendenhall Tigers

For the second straight game, Quitman will face off against Mendenhall. The Panthers will welcome the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quitman has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Quitman duked it out with Mendenhall on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 14-8 to the Tigers.

Malik Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Quitman's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Peters, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

The win (which was Mendenhall's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Quitman, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
