Preview: Catalina Trojans vs. Sabino Sabercats

Catalina is 0-9 against Sabino since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Catalina Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Sabino Sabercats at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Catalina scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over San Miguel. The win was just what Catalina needed coming off of a 15-2 loss in their prior match.

Meanwhile, Sabino can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Tanque Verde as Sabino made off with a 14-4 victory. The win was nothing new for Sabino as they're now sitting on six straight.

Avery Nielson and Ella Morse made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Nielson pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (she also only allowed one walk). Meanwhile, Morse tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Nielson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances. At bat, Nielson went 1-for-5 with a triple and a run, while Morse scored a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Lilly Mann was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and a double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Aguirre, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Catalina made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-5. As for Sabino, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
